Solution
Let G = number of goats
H = number of hens
Each goat has 4 legs, and each hen has 2 legs.
Total legs = 4G + 2H
Each goat and hen has 1 head.
Total heads = G + H
The problem states:
“Number of legs is 12 more than twice the number of heads.
“We can write this as:
4G + 2H = 2(G + H) + 12
4G + 2H = 2G + 2H + 12
Subtracting 2G and 2H from both sides:
2G = 12G = 6
So, there are 6 goats
The option D is correct
